Magical sisters Sally (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian (Nicole Kidman) have steered clear of using witchcraft until Gillian's boyfriend Jimmy turns out to be abusive. When the sisters team up to use a risky spell that kills him, Jimmy's spirit finds ways to torment the sisters, all while a detective arrives to investigate his disappearance.
