Alison Brie’s new romantic comedy film Somebody I Used to Know was released on Friday on Prime Video just in time for you to watch with a significant other on Valentine’s Day. Written by Alison Brie and directed by her husband Dave Franco, this movie got us thinking: Which Hollywood couples dated in a show or movie and stayed together in real life?

There's nothing fans love more than watching two people fall in love on-screen. Naturally, we can't help but love the idea of them falling in love in real life. Many long-time fans of The Office are familiar with this feeling, hoping for years that Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) would turn out to be a couple in real life. Although this romance never came to fruition, viewers were blessed with A Quiet Place five years after The Office concluded—a touching love story starring Krasinski and his wife, Emily Blunt.

Although the celebrities on this list may have been playing couples, their relationships on-screen were anything but an act. Take a look at five Hollywood couples that are still going strong!

1) Alison Brie & Dave Franco - The Disaster Artist

After meeting at Mardi Gras in 2011, the iconic acting duo tied the knot in 2017 and have been creating movies together ever since. Along the way, they have costarred in two films: The Disaster Artist and The Little Hours. In The Disaster Artist, Brie plays Amber, Greg’s (Dave Franco) new girlfriend that is the first person to disrupt the bromance between Tommy and Greg. During the production of this movie the couple was most likely already engaged, so it’s no surprise that their chemistry was top-notch.

Although Dave Franco is not acting in their newest movie, Somebody I Used to Know, the film was a collaborative project for them in every way. They expanded on the romantic comedy genre in a fun and refreshing way by breaking the “rules” that other romantic comedies tend to follow. In an interview with JoBlo Celebrity Interviews, Alison Brie described the movie as “an anti-rom-com and an ode to rom-coms kind of rolled into one."

Not many couples can successfully live together and work together, but Alison Brie and Dave Franco find a way to make it work.

Not much makes me laugh but this movie definitely did. I love the cast and it was a very easy watch. 10/10 - @theo_6871

2) Tom Holland & Zendaya - Spider-Man: Far From Home

After years of denial, the most iconic Gen Z Hollywood couple finally announced that they’re dating on September 1st, 2021. Well, Tom made it official on Zendaya’s birthday by posting "My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when you're up xxx." on Instagram. Unsurprisingly, the Spider-Man stans went bonkers which only strengthened the popularity of both stars.

I would argue Tom and Zendaya as a couple are responsible for making the new Spider-Man franchise the smashing success that it is, more so than the Spider-Man IP itself. Seeing Spider-Man: No Way Home in a suburban theater on opening night made that point abundantly clear. The screams and cheers every time Zendaya and Tom were on screen signified one thing: This is bigger than Spider-Man. This is about witnessing a romance between two of the biggest Hollywood stars evolve in real-time.

It’s safe to say that the long-awaited kiss between Peter Parker and MJ in Spider-Man: Far from Home back in 2019 was a bit more than just any ol’ kiss.

3) Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher - That '70s Show

After dating on-again, off-again for years in one of the most iconic teen sit-coms of all time, That ‘70s Show, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher finally ended up together. Jackie (Mila) and Michael Kelso (Ashton) did two movies in 2011 titled No Strings Attached and Friends With Benefits. Coincidentally, these movies had the exact same plot: Two best friends attempt to add sex into their relationship. But naturally, when things get steamy, the friendship gets complicated.

After filming the movies, Ashton and Mila apparently hadn’t learned their lessons from either of the films because they tried the exact same thing! They now have two boys and live happily ever after. Need something wholesome to watch this Valentine’s Day? Reunite with Jackie (Mila) and Michael Kelso (Ashton) in their cameos in the new Netflix original series That ‘90s Show.

Nostalgic for the times that I haven’t seen. Every character becomes so close to you while watching, you really feel like you’re among friends. - @saidaalmighty

4) John Krasinski & Emily Blunt - A Quiet Place

John Krasinski (The Office) was nervous about working with his wife for the first time when making this movie, Emily Blunt explains on Late Night with Seth Meyers. He was terrified of how people would view the film and if they would accept the story that he and his wife created. Understandably so, there’s a lot of pressure from the media when working with your partner for the first time, especially considering some viewers still fully associated him with Jim & Pam from The Office at the time.

The couple’s performances are raw and emotional as they fight to stay alive amidst disturbing circumstances. Thankfully for Kransinski, the public adored their film—enough to produce a second and third movie!

5) Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck - Gigli

As mentioned in our J-Lo Romantic Comedies Ranked post a couple of weeks ago, Jennifer Lopez has one movie that her die-hard fans try not to talk about… Gigli. Gigli is just outright bad. There’s no way around it. But to the Bennifer fandom, Gigli will always hold a special place in their heart because the set of Gigli is where J-Lo and Ben Affleck first met.

Their lives took them in different directions, but after 19 years Bennifer is back together and married. With rom-com season right in full swing, we had to include them on this list!
