Enola Holmes 2 |
The Story The first Enola Holmes movie had Millie Bobby Brown as the titular character, who embarks on her first adventure, which led to her wanting to become a detective. The sequel follows Enola as she takes on her first case: finding a matchstick girl's missing sister. When it proves far more challenging than expected, Enola enlists the help of her big bro Sherlock (Henry Cavill).
The Elevator Pitch Take Sherlock Holmes but make it young and fun—with a teenage girl as the heroine.
The Winner Millie Bobby Brown, who confirms she's just as excellent in other projects beyond Stranger Things.

My Policeman |
It's a rough year for Harry Styles’ acting ventures. Don't Worry Darling was received poorly by critics, and now My Policeman, the adaptation of Bethan Roberts' novel set in 1950s Britain, is not gaining many fans. In it, Styles plays Tom, a gay man who falls in love with museum curator Patrick (David Dawson), and their clandestine relationship is put in jeopardy when Tom's wife Marion (Emma Corrin) becomes jealous. It's currently in theaters, and hits Prime Video Friday. Despite the promised pop star nudity, here's why critics think it’s a miss. |
- Tom and Patrick's trip to Venice features a "a montage of gondolas and stolen kisses against honey stone walls and that naked bottom bathed in a golden light as a choir explodes with Vivaldi’s Gloria," according to The Spectator's Deborah Ross.
- Movie Madness' Erik Childress remarks that "the waves crashing on rocks do all the heavy lifting in a film that struggles to find real drama, any passion or an ounce of charisma from Harry Styles."
- Styles’ performance does not "radiate the magnetism or enthusiasm that's led some to compare the singer-songwriter to Freddy Mercury or Mick Jagger," says Chron's A.A. Dowd.
- John Nugent at Empire Magazine points out that the movie is a "clichéd melodrama" that’s "well-meaning but unfortunately misjudged."
- The movie "has nothing to add to the canon of depressing LGBTQ+ period dramas that’s profound enough to overcome the story’s dreary packaging," writes Katie Rife at Rolling Stone.
